The Healthy Lifespan Institute, a non-profit organization founded by many of the world's leading experts in aging science, is dedicated to education, research, and interventions focused on increasing healthy human lifespan. The Boston-based institute works closely with scientists, researchers and physicians worldwide to educate people about the aging process and the potential to translate that science to improve healthy aging.
Our aging population and those costly diseases related to aging are expected to comprise the greatest public health challenge of the 21st century. It is critical that our physicians, scientists, legislators and drug makers are aligned and committed to the common goal of warding off the chronic conditions that are projected to afflict 171 million Americans by the year 2030 and cost our country upwards of $16 trillion.
The Healthy Lifespan Institute acts as a bridge between these key groups to share information, exchange ideas and promote the necessity of discovery in aging science. To help facilitate the medical advances that will have a significant impact on patient populations, the Institute will design and conduct human clinical studies into non-traditional anti-aging therapeutics like calorie restriction and resveratrol that could potentially prolong healthy living. The full results of the clinical trials will be shared with the public.
Through knowledge sharing and the close study of the biological underpinnings of aging, the Healthy Lifespan Institute hopes to unlock secrets to longevity that may very well be within reach for patients today.
